Fallen TACAMO Veteran - Robert Brooks, VQ-3 Plankowner

1942 – November 18, 2018

LCDR Robert E. Brooks, USN (Ret.), age 76, of Virginia Beach, VA, went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2018. He was born in Louisville, KY. He was the son of Evelyn J (Black) and Augustus C. Brooks. He was a graduate of Bellarmine University. He proudly served our country as a Naval Flight Officer.

After retiring from the Navy he was a self-employed financial planner and owner of three High's Ice Cream stores in Virginia Beach from 1986-1999. He also worked for 21 years with the DOD at Delfin Systems, later known as L-3 Communications. Robert loved baseball, playing and watching, bowling,and later enjoying golf with his wife and friends. With his family he traveled to 4 continents and 34 countries, always the adventurer. Robert was an active member of St. John the Apostle and a volunteer at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte L Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Teressa M Brooks; son, Douglas S. Brooks (John Keller); daughter, Carri L. Lamoureux (Richard); daughter, Ashleigh N. Brooks (Lizzie); step-son, M. Todd Williams (Theresa); step-son, Matt T. Williams (Ashley); brother, Gary W. Brooks (Ginny); brother, George Brooks; 6 grandsons, Taylor, Logan, Hayden, Nolan, Gavin, and Austin; and 3 granddaughters, Mackenzie, Brooke, and Sydney.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Fr. Rob Cole on Monday, November 26, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Rd, Virginia Beach. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. Death is not the end, nor does it destroy bonds that you forge in your life.
