One Week, Countdown

Anyone who will be attending the TACAMO Reunion events on 2-3 April who does not have a military retired ID card must have a Real ID in order to get on Tinker AFB base due to higher security measures.
Shipmates and Guests,

WE ARE 1 WEEK AWAY AND WE ARE A HUGE GO FOR TACAMO APPRECIATION
DAYS 2-3 APRIL. IT IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE LARGEST GATHERING OF TACAMO
WARFIGHTERS PAST AND PRESENT SINCE THE ADMIRAL SAID “TAKE CHARGE AND
MOVE OUT IN 1961. “
Weather forecast is 40 % rain on Thursday and Friday. Temps highs 70 and lows 55.
We had over 200 names on the access list we gave to the Wing and Base. Again, if you do
not have Base Access you have to be on a Base approved access list that will be at the Air
depot Main Gate when you drive in and show your ID.
So many Old Timer JO’s, Chiefs, CO/XO, community leaders and Commodores. 18
Commodores are planning to attend. Over 60 are staying at the host Delta Hotel. Including
the Fleet, we could have 250 shipmates and families at the big event on Friday. Every
decade from 1960 will be represented.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
All TACAMO Shipmates are welcome to come out to the Wing HQ front yard on
Thursday 2 April at 1100-1300 and help us “ feed the fleet” to kick off our TACAMO
Appreciation Days. A TCVA funded event is intended to tell the great Sailors of TACAMO
that they are appreciated by the Old Timers. Nothing better than giving a white hat a pat on
the back.
Old Timers and present-day warfighters are encouraged to come out to the Truck Yard on Thursday 2 April at 1700-2000 to relive our glory days in a comfortable and relaxed area
with live music. Bring your famous or infamous sea stories and let’s refresh and rekindle
those friendships that for some it’s been 30-40-50 years. Food trucks on sight as well as a
Bar. There is a covered part of the area in the event of rain.
On Friday we will begin the day at 0900-1130 with aircraft tours and a Ready Room
briefing. Also, a trip over to VQ-7 and NAMTRA to see mockups. For you pilots no sim time
sorry. Make plans to arrive at the Squadron Security Gate at 0830. You must be on the
vetted Wing access list, and you will be spilt into groups by Protocol and our TCVA Security
team. For those of you who have never been to Tinker or been aboard the E-6B Mercury
Aircraft you will be really impressed. Recommend comfortable clothing and shoes for
climbing around the E-6B.
On 3 April Friday afternoon from 1230-1700 (opening ceremonies 1315) we welcome you
to the Old Timers “Meet and Greet the Fleet” Fly-In at the Tinker Events Center (formerly
Officers Club). On the docket will be a DJ and music, TCVA Hall of Fame induction for 3
outstanding TACAMO Sailors as well as presentation of a TCVA Pioneer award.
Presentation of eight 1000 dollar TACAMO Foundation scholarships to deserving Sailors or
Family members, recognition of community Leaders , Fallen TACAMO sailor tribute,
recognition of USAF O’Club personnel, and presentation of THE TACAMO EAGLE
AWARD.
Friday night is whatever you desire. There is no event scheduled after 1700. Of course, if
you want to stay at the OClub, they said they will stay open as long as we are there.
Saturday is travel day. Safe travels.
Sunday is Easter Sunday. Happy Easter
AND OF COURSE WE NEED TO TAKE GREAT CARE OF EACH OTHER AND ENSURE
NONE OF OUR SHIPMATES GET IN ANY TROUBLE.
