TACAMO Appreciation Days - Two Months Away!!

TACAMO Appreciation Days are just two months away, and excitement is building among current Sailors and Old Timers alike. This special event, scheduled for April 2-3, offers a unique chance to honor the service of TACAMO Sailors, reconnect with old friends, and create new memories. Whether you served recently or decades ago, the upcoming gatherings promise to be memorable and meaningful.

Looking Forward to an Epic Gathering

With just two months to go, anticipation is high for TACAMO Appreciation Days in OKC. The OKC Chapter has a combination of casual social events, educational tours, and formal ceremonies that promise a weekend full of meaning and fun. Whether you are reconnecting with old friends or meeting new ones, this event will strengthen the TACAMO community.

Thursday, April 2: Feed the Fleet and Evening Gathering

The first day of TACAMO Appreciation Days kicks off with a casual, welcoming event designed to bring together Sailors and civilians from various squadrons and commands. Old Timers who have arrived are encouraged to attend as well.

Feed the Fleet: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

In front of the TACAMO Wing (Strategic Communications Wing One), we will Feed the Fleet in a relaxed atmosphere with hot dogs, burgers, chips, water, and cookies. This is a perfect opportunity to take a break from the daily grind, enjoy some food, and share stories with fellow TACAMO Sailors.

Evening at the Truck Yard: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Later that day, the celebration moves to the Truck Yard in lower Bricktown (downtown area of Oklahoma City). This outdoor venue offers a grassy area filled with food trucks, live music, tables, and lawn chairs. It’s an ideal setting for Old Timers to return to their glory days, share sea stories, and thank each other for their service.

The Truck Yard event is designed to blend the energy of the current fleet with the rich history of those who served before. The relaxed vibe encourages everyone to connect and celebrate TACAMO’s legacy.

Friday, April 3: Tours, Briefings, and Meet and Greet

The second day offers a mix of educational and social activities that highlight TACAMO’s ongoing mission and honor the community.

TACAMO Tours and Briefings: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

For Old Timers, especially those from Guam, Pax River, and Hawaii, the squadron will conduct hangar and aircraft tours along with ready room briefings. These tours provide a firsthand look at the E-6B aircraft and operations, which many will find impressive compared to their own experiences.

If you want to join these tours, it’s important to contact the event organizers or Captain Gary “Combat” Foster to get on the access list. Contact information is provided at the end of this infogram.  This ensures smooth entry and a chance to engage with the current fleet.

Meet and Greet the Fleet: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

The afternoon event at the Tinker Events Center is the highlight of the weekend. It includes:

  • Hall of Fame inductions

  • TACAMO Scholarship awards

  • Open bar

  • Salute to TACAMO Fallen

  • DJ and music

  • Videos showcasing TACAMO history and achievements

  • TCVA OK Chapter Golden Eagle presentations

  • Salute to community leaders

This gathering is a chance to celebrate TACAMO’s past, present, and future in one place. Whether you want to honor fallen comrades, recognize outstanding service, or simply enjoy the company of fellow Sailors, this event has something for everyone.

If you need help with reservations or airport pickups, the organizers are ready to assist. This makes attending easier and more convenient for everyone.
