TACAMO lost a great leader, Captain(select) Cody "Queen" Scarborough. He came up through the Enlisted ranks and served as CO of VQ4. At his passing he was TACAMO's leading Requirements Officer in the Pentagon.

It is with a broken heart that I write this post. My husband, Cody Scarborough passed away July 22, 2026. He was an amazing husband, father, son, and big brother. He also carried the role of being an extraordinary Naval officer. He was a mentor to many sailors and encouraged them to achieve what they may have thought was impossible. Today I would like to announce that he was promoted from Commander Scarborough to Captain Scarborough. This promotion was well deserved and well earned. You did it babe! I will love you forever and always!

The TACAMO Community extends its sympathy and prayer for peace to Cody's family and friends during this time of passing.
Mr. Scarborough was an Awesome Commanding officer. He would come down and help us with panel parties and wash jobs on the jets all the time. There was a time briefly where one of the jets had a problem that lasted longer than it should have and I happened to figure out what it was. He called me up to his office and asked if I remembered what I did. I was super stressed thinking I had done something wrong. I told him that I couldn’t remember what I had done. He said “well I’ll tell you what you did. You did a great job”. From there he turned around and gave me a challenge coin. I’ll forever remember this.…

This news of Cody’s passing is so sad. I loved that man. My prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.
Skipper Scarborough was a great American. As a Nacal Officer he positively impacted the lives and careers of thousands of Sailors and their families during his distinguished career.
I was blessed to meet him during his command tour at Tinker and he is one of those few people in life that when you first meet him you come away saying to yourself” Wow, I reallly like that guy”! Cody was truly dedicated to the well being of his Sailors and families and flying and fighting the TACAMO mission to the best of his abilities…
