TACAMO Fallen: Daniel Roger Knox - VQ-3, VQ4, VXE-6 and the Blue Angels

Daniel Roger Knox, 83, of Pensacola, Florida, died March 19, 2026. Dan was an adventurous man whose life was marked by devoted service, steady commitment to family, and enduring interests that kept him engaged with his community.

Dan was born March 18, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, to Owen D. Knox and Marian C. Huling.

In June 1963, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went on to serve in many different positions, including C-130 Systems/Organization Maintenance Tech, Reciprocating Engine Tech, Transport Flight Crew Plane Captain, and C-130 Flight Engineer. He served with VXE-6, VQ4-Tacamo C-130 Squadron, as well as the Blue Angels Crew from November 1981 to December 1982, along with many other stations during his career. Dan retired from the U.S. Navy as ADC Daniel R. Knox, US Navy (Ret.).

In 1965, Dan married Diane E. Clark. They were married 37 years before Diane’s death in 2002. Dan was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debi Beal.

Survivors include his daughter, Denise M. Knox; brother, Richard Knox and wife Lynn; sister, Sheila Decker and husband Wayne; companion, Brenda Neumann; and many nieces and nephews.

Dan enjoyed bowling, watching college football (especially FSU), and working on cars. He liked vintage vehicles and often attended car shows throughout the Pensacola area. He was a member of the Corry Station Wellness Center, the Blue Angels Alumni Association, and served on the VXE-6 Reunion Committee.
