Update TACAMO Fallen Veteran - Jody Millard Griffin
AUGUST 13, 1969 – MAY 18, 2020
Jody Millard Griffin was born August 13, 1969 in Greenville, Mississippi to parents Carl and Laura (Garrett) Griffin.
He graduated from Washington High School and received a full-ride scholarship to play baseball at Mississippi State College. He spent two years there as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon before transferring to Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Aviation in 1992. His career started at L&L Flyer Service where he was an Ag Pilot. In 1995, he began his career in the military commissioning in the Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant before transferring into the Air Force, finishing his 20 years of service and retiring as a Major. Following his military service, he was a pilot for Federal Express, the United States Marshall Service and most recently Southwest Airlines. Jody met the love of his life, Sheryl Larson, while stationed in Oklahoma City in 2001. They dated for five years before they married in September of 2006. Jody’s proudest moment came on April 29, 2009 when they were blessed with a beautiful son, Garrett Larson Griffin. His greatest hobby, which was also his job, was flying. He enjoyed everything about baseball, working in the yard and of course spending quality time with Sheryl and Garrett. Jody passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2020, just 11 days after his father, Carl Griffin, passed. His mother, Laura (Garrett) Griffin, passed away in 1992. Jody is survived by his wife, Sheryl; son, Garrett; sister, Carla Griffin; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Stephanie & Tom O’Keefe and Stacie & Doug Peterson; and many nephews, nieces, and other family, and friends.
TACAMO Community would like to thank Dennis "Coach" Warren for providing this notice.
TCVA extends its sympathy and prayer for peace to Jody Griffin's family and friends during this time of the passing.
