Bill (William) Shappie (TACAMO Sailor) posted on Facebook:

"Most of you know that I don't post very much. Sad news is never easy to tell. My wife of 43 years passed away last night. Even as I tell this I am tearing up a little bit. She was a Navy veteran and Navy wife who raised two wonderful children. We were all at her side in the end. She's in a better place now without pain or sorrow. I will see her again in Heaven.

"She was with me at VQ3 Agana Guam from around June 1978 to 1 October 1980. She was in QA with a very young Lieutenant John Kielty. She worked with Senior Chief McDonald in Maintenance Control until she was Honorably discharged from active duty. She was a Navy wife for over 40 Years and we came to Oklahoma where I worked as a contractor for over 9 years in support of the TACAMO platform."

Posted by "Irish" John Keilty Bill, I am so sorry for your loss. Laurie was such a wonderful lady. A great Sailor! She kept great track of and took such great care of these Sailors of VQ3 in Guam. Wow, she was good. Back then everything was typed no computers and Laurie was non stop perfection on the keyboard. We all loved Laurie. Bill your family is in our thoughts and prayers
