After finishing HS in San Francisco, California, Steve left for the Navy August 2nd, 1976. Steve excelled in the Navy and earned the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer within 18 years of his career. Upon retiring from the Navy, Steve began a long career with Nortel and Erickson as a Project Manager. He retired in 2017 and began a life of golf, traveling around the world, and riding Indians throughout Kansas with his wife. He loved to race dirtbikes at Jeeps Motorcross and was his favorite place to be on his free time.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Lee Hickle and stepson, Brandon Anthony. Steve is survived by his wife of 22 years, Laurie Lee Hickle; children, Danielle, Wesley (Sabrina) and Bailee Hickle; stepchildren, Carmen (Jordan) Fibert, Audrey (Jake) Fibert and Anthony (Daisy) Salamonski; grandchildren, Jonah, Liam, Paige, Peyton, Ruby, and Noah; one sister, Leslie (Michael); and his beloved schnauzer, Rachel.

Steve had a heart of gold and would have given his last dime to a person in need. He was very loved and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life service for Steven will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, October 20th at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54 Wichita KS 67209.
