I’m in shock. When I arrived to VQ-3 in early 1978 as a new FE, I was assigned to Crew 1. Joe Donahue was my 1st FE, absolutely the best. But he always told me if I wanted to understand the “backend of the bus”, listen to Dave. Dave always had time to teach. He, along with greats like Ron Fox and Mike Nehri, made that crew and took pity on new FE’s. When I made Chief, he was right there to provide guidance and appreciated harassment! I’m saddened that I had not spoken to him in a few years, especially since I live just south of Seattle. I wish him Fair Winds and Following Sea's to that better place.

Dave and I communicated a few times over the past several years via FB messenger. Flew with him in VQ-3 many times. He was a true sailor's sailor and mentor when it came to onboard mission systems. Always enjoyed having him on the crew. He'll now be able to see his beloved daughter, Pamela Sue. Deepest condolences to his wife, Herminia and family members.

I talked with David a few days prior to his wife calling me with the bad news.

We were stationed together in Guam. A few years later, our paths crossed again when we were stationed together flying range clearance at Point Mugu, CA.

Rest in peace my friend! ❤️

Dave and I flew many TACAMO missions together both in Guam and in Hawaii. He was alway a positive crewdog. First one to do the bag drag when we landed. We communited a lot after he retired to the post office. Felt sorry for him after his daugher died. They were very close. RIP my fiend.

Dave was my sponsor when I arrived in VQ-3 in the summer of 1974. He became, and remained a dear friend for the next 50+ years. We flew many hours together in Tacamo, both as ACOMs, In-flight Techs, and as ACSs. When I left Guam in 1979, he flew my final mission for me as ACS because I was already at the Hilton on TLA flying out the next day and had no flight suit or gear. He jumped in and saved the day at the last minute. I was stunned to hear of his passing. Fair winds and following seas, shipmate.
