My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I loved your father.

As a junior LCDR I received orders to Tinker as one of the first officers assigned to the wing.

I was the OIC of NAMTRAGRU. Larry Cole was already there.

He met me upon my arrival and showed me my office. I had already seen the building lay down and knew he was not showing me my office. He was showing me his office, he had already moved into my office. That was fun.

This was my first leadership role. Larry was a great mentor for me and we had a wonderful time establishing that training group. In 32 years of service this was the most rewarding tour for me and this was largely due to the working relationship I had with Master Chief Cole.

May he Rest in Peace. My career was hugely shaped by this gent and I am so grateful I got to serve with him.

All the best and VR

To Master Chief Cole’s son Kevin Cole,

You were blessed to be raised by a Dad with impeccable character who was a “difference maker” in the lives of many Sailors and families. Steve Jerrim said your Dad was a Sailor’s Sailor. His outreach of influence was evident in both the enlisted ranks and officer ranks. When I first met your Dad first impression was wow. I was so excited that we had a man of such integrity , leadership and passion on our TACAMO campus. His personal example and obvious pride in his service was contagious and impacted every Sailor on our campus.

We are saddened by this loss. Kevin you and your family are in our prayers.

John Keilty

Former TACAMO Commodore
