TACAMO Fallen Veteran - Marvin “Smokey” Longstreet VQ-4

October 10, 1953 - Thursday, June 11, 2020

Mr. Longstreet passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his residence. Age 66 years. The son of the late Marvin Sr. and Julia (Korycinski) Longstreet was born October 10, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan.

Mr. Longstreet was retired from the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician and enjoyed fishing, going to the pistol range and collecting firearms.

Mr. Longstreet is survived by one brother, LeRoy (Patricia) Longstreet; one sister, Rosemary Roll; three nephews, Paul Longstreet, Patrick Longstreet and Thomas Teall; two nieces, Shelley Bigelow and Tammy Tickner and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Virginia “Jenn” Newman and his father-in-law, Thomas Soderquist. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Longstreet.

At the request of Mr. Longstreet cremation has taken place. A memorial services is being planned for a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family

 

Thank you Henry Brainard for providing "Smokey's" obituary and sorry for your loss. Henry had been looking for an old sailor, "Smokey" he was stationed with in the VANS at VQ-4 when he came across his shipmates passing.
