He started with describing a question his daughter, a Naval Aviator (H-60 Pilot and current Instructor), just asked him, via text message, which he preferred. LT Jerry Tuttle Was Told "TAKE CHARGE AND MOVE OUT" in 1963 Tells His Story

Sponsored by TCVA Membership TCVA's mission to preserve our legacy and history gained a new asset on September 13. Captain Ernie Lewis, former TACAMO PMA in NAVAIR and A-4 class mate of VADM Jerry Tuttle got together today with Lew McIntyre at the Admiral and Barbara Tuttle's home in McLean VA. Vice Admiral Tyson "to leave a large hole" in the Navy

Article by Carl Prine Contact Reporter for The San Diego Union-Tribune Permission granted by Ricky Young, Watchdog & Data Editor at The San Diego Union-Tribune For maybe the first time in her Navy career, Vice Adm. Nora Wingfield Tyson is talking about some firsts. The first woman to ever command an American carrier strike group. The first woman to command the forward deployed Singapore-based Task Force 73. The first woman to command a battle fleet. The first woman to navigate the flattop Enterprise. Which is odd because the trailblazing aviator has always downplayed her gender, urging sailors to judge her by competence and courage, nothing else, her steely will focused on the mission at han

TCVA EC-130 Intel Branch

Fresh intel from ARM in Tucson AZ by Bob Kruse On November 9th, I visited our seven former TACAMO mission Herks in the desert in Tucson. This report is meant to be a followup to the info we gathered during the April 2015 Boneyard Safari TCVA Gathering. I became interested in doing this when I learned that I’d be laying over in Tucson for Delta Airlines this week. I called Terry Smith, the proprietor of Aircraft Restoration and Maintenance Inc. in Tucson, who checked with the owners of these aircraft to get permission for me to come. The aircraft are not owned by ARM, but by a party in California who stores them at ARM and allows them to be parted out. Basically, they have half a squadron of

Let My People Go

Scuttlebutt on TACAMO Future by Vern Lochausen, Captain, USN (Retired) & President, TACAMO Community Veterans Association Most folks have seen it in the aerospace press reports and it does appear as if DoD is planning to give the Navy a gift in the future. In my view it is like what happened to Pharaoh in the movie “The Ten Commandments” when Moses played by Charlton Heston told him “Let my people go!” TACAMO may very well get back to our legacy roots and let the Air Force have the whole airborne command post mission back. In 1992, the same DoD decided it was best to retire all the ABNCPs jets and give that last ABNCP mission, the Omaha former “Looking Glass” or CINCSAC ABNCP to the E-6. I

TCVA Congratulates Senator Paul Rosino on his election! Master Chief Petty Officer Paul Rosino, TACAMO Veteran, is new Oklahoma State Senator from District 45. That district runs through south Canadian and the northern portion of Cleveland county. It includes the cities of Mustang and Valley Brook. Republican Paul Rosino won his state Senate seat Tuesday, putting a damper on a string of four Democratic victories this year that has raised questions about the GOP's stronghold on Oklahoma politics. Rosino, who is retired from the Navy and works in real estate, beat Steven Vincent with nearly 58 percent of the vote in the district that covers a swath of the south Oklahoma City metro area. "I th

TCVA Fallen Brother Cliff Greer

It is with much sadness TCVA reports the passing on one of TACAMO brothers, Cliff Greer. The following is an email from Jack Bowers. Good morning fellow TACAMOites, I hope each of you had a great Veterans Day, and I want to thank each and every one of you for your service to our great Nation. It was an honor to serve with you. Yesterday, our local VFW held a Veterans Day ceremony to commemorate and thank all veterans for their service. They served coffee and donuts afterward and while I was standing there a young man came hobbling up to me on a cane and said, "Do you know me?" I said you look familiar, but you will have to help me with your name. "Ferrel Greer" I hadn't seen hi
